LIFE CELEBRATIONS AT CHURCH OF THE LEGACY

As a Christian Church Community, we believe that preparation for and celebration of live events involves our parish community as well as our families since at Baptism we become members of the Body of Christ. Therefore family members and parishioners are involved in the preparation process for life celebrations as well as in the living out of Christian life.

BAPTISM OF INFANTS AND YOUNGER CHILDREN

Parents preparing for the Baptism for their child(ren) participate in a Preparation Program held on the first Monday of the month.  Contact the Church Office at 207-449-1254 to register for the program. Infant Baptisms take place on the first four Sundays of the month at 12:30 PM, at Insight Services or at other times by special arrangement.

Godparent selection is an important decision for your child.

BAPTISM OF ADULTS AND CHILDREN OVER 7

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a year round process of weekly sessions led by a team of parishioners for any person interested in learning more about the Catholic Church or in becoming a full and active member of the Christian Church through the Life Events of Baptism, Confirmation and/or Eucharist.  Children seven and older, and young people who are unbaptized participate in a similar process.

FIRST EUCHARIST

The  preparation for children in Grade 2 for First Eucharist seeks to make them more aware of God's love and their call to be part of the "Body of Christ." Parents, catechists and the parish community are personally involved in bringing our children to the Table of the Lord. An alternate process is provided for older children and adults.  For more information, click on the Religious Education link on our website.

CONFIRMATION OF ADULTS

Baptized adults (18 and older) who attend Insight Services regularly, but who were not confirmed, can take part in three preparation sessions for the Sacrament of Confirmation which is usually celebrated in the Fall.

Baptized adults who have not received First Eucharist or Confirmation usually take part in the RCIA process.

CONFIRMATION FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

The Confirmation program is designed for students who have completed the 10thgrade in  the Parish Spritual Education Program.  The young person is provided with the opportunity, support and time needed to seriously and willingly prepare for and choose the Sacrament of Confirmation. For more information, click on the Religious Education link.

MATRIMONY

Couples are asked to contact Rev. Nancy at least six months before the desired wedding date. Attendance at a marriage preparation program is a diocesan requirement. Married couples assist engaged couples in their preparation for the Life Event of Matrimony during a program in February at The Church of The Legacy.  Individual couple marriage preparation is available with Rev. Nancy.  Please contact the rectory for more information.

ANNOINTING OF THE SICK (CARE OF THE SICK)

In case of accident or sudden illness, call anytime for the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. This sacrament is also available to anyone preparing for surgery.

We are pleased to bring Holy Communion to ill, homebound and hospitalized parishioners when notified.
